Description
Dr Phil Judkins is a military historian specialising in the First and Second World Wars. He holds a PhD from the Royal Military College of Science in the history of radar, has held Fellowships at Cranfield, Buckingham and currently Leeds Universities, and next year will take up a Fellowship at Cambridge. He has frequently been consulted by family historians puzzled by the obscurity of military records and helped many to understand, and even write books about, their relatives' experiences.
Speaker Dr Phil Judkins
Phil talks through worked examples of how best to use National Archives and other research materials to construct the detail of the service careers of relatives during the First World War. This talk does not take listeners down ‘the usual paths’, but covers many sources not usually explored by speakers on this topic.
